June 1, 2009 CVS Trip

So last week I picked up a box of Colegate toothpaste that was marked at $2.99 with $2.00 ECBs. I also had a $1.00 off coupon, which would have made it free for me since I paid with ECBs. Turns out the price was mismarked and they actually charged me $4.89 for the toothpaste. And I didn't get any ECBs. I didn't catch the mistake until midweek. I DO NOT need toothpaste, I have at least 8 downstairs in my stockpile shelf. I only bought it in the first place since it was free for me. SO... yesterday I returned the toothpaste. (Boy, did I get some strange looks over that one!)

I was given a giftcard for $4.89... the price of the toothpaste. With it I bought all of this...

Huggies Wipes
On sale for $2.50
-.75 Coupon (received in the mail)
=$1.75 (not the cheapest I've ever gotten, but we needed them!)

Four cans of Campbells Chicken Noodle Soup
On sale for 2/$1.00
-$1.00 off any two cans coupon here (print and use 2 coupons)
=FREE
Two bottles of French's Mustard
On sale for 4/$5.00 (or $1.25 each)
-$1.00 on any 2 coupon from the Sunday News
=$1.50 for two
(perfect for parties!)
Two Glade Apple Cinnamon Spray
On sale for .99 each.
I had a Buy 1 Get 1 Free coupon from the Sunday News
=.50 each

Two Women's Schick Razors, Travel Size
Regular price .99
-$2.00 coupon from the Sunday News
=Free

With tax, my total was $4.24. I paid with my $4.89 gift card that I got from the toothpaste, leaving a .65 balance.

It was a bit of a wake-up call for me, because I used to pay that much for toothpaste before I started to use coupons. It showed me how much I get in place of what I used to spend. Made me pretty happy and thankful that I found out how to use coupons!!
